I came across a quote, which really spoke to me, but unfortunately I can’t find it anywhere! The quote asked a couple of questions such as; ‘Why is it that when we are young, we can’t wait to grow up, but when we are older we are so concerned about looking and staying young?’ ‘Why are we so anxious about the future that we forget to enjoy the present, therefore we find that when we come to the end of our lives, we have not really lived?’
I can’t remember the quote word for word, but this is what I understood from it because it is so true.
Many times, to be honest most of the time, I find myself going into an imaginary land about what I want for my future such as my career, my dream house, the type of family I want, etc. Therefore, I forget to enjoy the life that I’m living today because my mind is preoccupied with what I want for tomorrow.
Yes it’s great to plan for the future and have goals, but it is also very important to enjoy every step of the way, which means the present step.
Every age, no matter how old or young, is so valuable; we must enjoy the age we’re at, as we’re never going to get that age back.
It sounds pretty cliché, but just because we are living does not mean that we are really alive and I just think it’s important that we start enjoying every moment of life-the good and bad because that’s all part of it. Therefore, I guess just sit back and enjoy the roller coaster so that when we come to the end of our lives, we can really say that we lived and we enjoyed.
